At IPCPR 2014 in Las Vegas we sat down with Kyle Gellis of Warped cigars to get the latest and chat about the Warped philosophy. One of the stand-out cigars of the show for us was the La Colmena. It featured lots of white pepper buttressed by ceder and a light honey-suckle sweetness. I can’t wait to smoke more. As you can tell I could hardly pay attention during the interview because I was enjoying the cigar so much.
The La Colmena comes in 3 sizes. Each size is rolled by a single roller who specializes in that vitola. The Amado No. 36 is a 6×36 petit lancero regular production. The Amado No. 44 (the one I’m was smoking in the video) is a 5.5×44 regular production. Finally there is the Limited Edition Unico Especial which is an IPCPR 2014 exclusive. It’s a closed-foot 5×48 belicoso that comes in a beautiful tin container.
Kyle spoke briefly of The El Oso MaMa, a 7×38 lancero line-extension that will come in 10-count boxes. Instead of utilizing the Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro of the previous 2 vitolas, the MaMa it will sport a Mexican San Andrés wrapper.
Lastly there was the Flor Del Valle, a cigar made at the TABSA factory composed entirely of Casa Fernandez Nicaraguan grown tobacco. I didn’t find anything out about the release but the band shown in the background of this photo was one of the most beautiful at the show.
The Warped booth was one of our favorite of the show with beautiful presentation, a great cigar in the La Colmena and some elegant looking accessories.
