The Illusione *R* Rothchildes was released back in March of 2013 with a retail under $5, something we hadn’t seen from Dion Giolito before. It’s wrapped in a gorgeous, rustic looking Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan filler and binder. Total smoke time was 1 hour and 30 minutes.
A cigar for the masses. Price vs. quality—unmatched in the marketplace – illusionecigars.com
The flavors don’t take time to develop and kick off with a chewy earthiness, hints of floral sweetness, and coat the palate with an oily finish. Complementary flavors of leather and meatiness really added to the dominant, rich bold flavors.
There is no denying this cigar is worth every penny, plus some. The construction was nearly flawless and smoked longer than expected. The smoke output was incredible with an unlimited amount of earthy tobacco aroma. I hate to talk about price, but at this price point, this is the best cigar I’ve ever smoked. The longer I smoked this cigar, the more I wanted to bust out my wallet and buy a cabinet of 50. This cigar is as satisfying as it comes so do yourself a favor and go snag a box!
- Last year, before Kyle came on board, Josh put forth the Illusione *R* Rothchildes for their Twelve Months of Tobacco – Best of 2013 list. It was listed under Hat Trick, which was a category made up of only three cigars the team felt presented the best bang for your buck.
- Josh labeled his Illusione *R* Rothchildes as Regal in that same article as opposed to a Coal Miner. This goes to show that not only can there be differences from cigar to cigar, crop to crop, and year to year but also between how each reviewer see’s things.
